The ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) has said that there is no cause for concern over the delay of rains.
ICAR Director-General S Ayyappan told Business Line that moisture in the fields was good because of good rains last year. The moisture present in the soil can take care of the needs for now.
Scant rains delayed sowings in several parts of the country.
"There is still time and we can wait for 15 days more, " he said.
He is here in connection with the inauguration of the foundation course for Agricultural Research Service (FOCARS-100) at the National Academy of Agricultural Research.
