A parking policy for Delhi will soon be notified, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal said on Monday.
Addressing media, he said the electronic road pricing (ERP) system, which is in vogue in various countries including Singapore, is also likely to be introduced in the city. The ERP system charges higher rates during peak hours.
“We filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on Monday on the sealing issue,” said Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, adding that that an Ordinance could not be passed now since Parliament is in session.
Sealing is being carried out in places meant for parking, on unauthorised constructions and where government land or forestland are encroached upon, said Baijal.
Meanwhile, for past several days, traders in the national capital are protesting against the sealing drive.
