The 7th annual conference of the Endocrine Society of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be held in Chennai on June 29 and 30, a press release issued by the society said.
Endocrinology is a branch of biology that deals with various hormones in the human body, including insulin, deficiency of which causes diabetes.
The conference will serve as a platform to bring together leading clinicians with different specialities such as diabetes, obstetrics and paediatrics. Over a hundred Indian and international endocrinologists and 1,800 doctors are expected to attend the meeting, the press release said.
Trendo 2019 will also see discussions covering topics such as managing diabetes, thyroid, bone health, electrolyte disorders and obesity.
“As we are seeing an increase in the number of patients dealing with hormonal disorders such as thyroid disorders, diabetes, poly-cystic ovaries and obesity affecting fertility, we have dedicated substantial time for discussion on these topics, said Muthukumaram Jayapaul, Organising Secretary.
The keynote speakers will be two endocrinologists from the UK — Rudy Bilous and Richard Quinton. They will speak on issues related to new management options in diabetes, diabetes in pregnancy and female sexual disorders.
The conference will address important issues commonly encountered in dealing with diabetes management, options for diabetes reversal and insulin and its correct usage. A new edition of the Endocrine Manual for physicians will also be released by the society during the conference, the release said.
