Canara Dry Fish Merchants’ Association has urged the Centre to exempt dry fish from GST. Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Abdul Rahiman Haji, president of the association, said the government has imposed 5 per cent GST on dry fish. He said dry fish, which is a perishable commodity, had been exempted from tax earlier. Stating that the dry fish traders in Kerala and Tamil Nadu have stopped trading dry fish in protest against the imposition of the tax, Haji said Canara Dry Fish Merchants’ Association will support their strike from November 10.
