Two passengers were killed and seven injured as nine coaches of the Secunderabad-Mumbai Duranto Express derailed in the early hours of Saturday at Martur station near Gulbarga in Karnataka.
The accident happened at 2.15 am. The injured have been rushed to the nearest hospital in Gulbarga. The down line was restored at 5.40 am. The derailed coaches left the accident site at 6 30 am, said a statement from Central Railway.
The derailed coaches include three AC-3 tier (B7, B8 B9), three AC-2 tier (A1, A2, A3) one first AC coach H1, one generator car and one pantry car.
Brake down trains from Solapur, Daund and Wadi have been rushed for restoration work.
