A positive attitude is essential for a person to become successful in life, said P.S. Yadapadithaya, Registrar of Mangalore University.

Yadapadithaya was delivering the BL Club lecture at the Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management at Nitte in Udupi district on Monday. The lecture was sponsored by Syndicate Bank.

He said that a person could work better by adopting some simple techniques. If you understand all aspects of a problem and tackle them one by one, it will lead to better results. To work better, one should learn to listen and ask questions. Keeping the work simple and always remaining calm also ensure success, Yadapadithaya said.

He highlighted the importance of teamwork in an organisation with a story and an illustration. Teamwork benefits all members of the team.

Urging students to do SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis, he said they should concentrate on their strengths and evaluate opportunities. At the same time, it is necessary for them to recognise their weakness and research on their threats.

Learning to love what one does is the key to lifelong happiness, Yadapadithaya added.

K. Sankaran, Director of the Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management, also addressed the gathering.
