Gaining visibility, enlarging the perspective and grabbing opportunities to perform significant tasks are the ways to rise to the top and become even the Chief Executive Officer of an organisation, said Gopal Hari, General Manager, Personnel and HR, TVS Sri Chakra Pvt Ltd, Madurai.

He was delivering a lecture on the ‘Visibility of HR Professionals-Key to success’ under the Business Line Club of the Department of Business Administration, PSNA College of Engineering and Technology, Dindigul, near here. The event was sponsored by Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB), Tuticorin.

He said that visibility, being noticed, is gained through being active in a positive way. Domain expertise is a hallmark. Setting the context about HR professionals, he said they are not known as much as a marketing or a finance professional in organisations. Based on the work they do, they could be classified, he said, under five levels — administration, monitoring and execution, designing and implementation, strategising for alignment with business goals and becoming a business partner aimed at enhancing stake-holder value in the long run with a belief that ‘people make business and business is as good as its people’.

He said that most HR people get stuck and remain mired at lower levels — 1-3 of performance and fail to grab the scope to do significant tasks themselves in the organisation. They need to understand the customers and other stake-holders and direct their talent to be business focused. This will enable them to translate their dream of becoming a CEO into reality. The extent of visibility is directly proportional to the success achieved in practice, he added.

Earlier, J.Rajamohan, Branch Manager, TMB, Dindigul , explained about the schemes offered by the bank.

Dr.R. Manimaran, Head of the Department was present on the occasion.
