Nobel laureate Amartya Sen today said the qualitative development of education in India is not up to the mark.
“The standard of education in India is deteriorating day by day. We have to provide scope and ensure quality education. A number of Asian countries cutting across their political ideology have advanced a lot in the education sector,” Sen said, addressing a meeting organised by Pratichi Trust here.
“The political leaders’ attention towards this (quality education) is an important factor. On the other hand the common people must demand for it,” he said.
The Pratichi (India) Trust organised a two-day discussion on ‘Innovation in School Education’ which was attended by school teachers, social workers and education department officials from West Bengal, Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Bangladesh.
