Each individual has a core competency and individual brilliance, said Lalit Kumar Kiri, Chairman, Kiri Logistics Private Ltd.

He was delivering a lecture on team work and motivation at the MBC Government Girls College, Barmer, Rajasthan, recently.

The campus interface with the corporate world was organised by Business Line in association with Cairn India.

Kiri delivered his message to the students through the hare and tortoise fable. He said that the hare lost because it was lax and careless. When the race was rerun, the hare won by a considerable distance. The tortoise thought that was unfair because it was not made to run but to swim. The race was reorganised, this time there was a stream in the course, which had to be crossed. The tortoise won this time, because the hare could not swim as fast as the tortoise.

The same distance could be traversed in still a shorter time if the hare carried the tortoise on land and the tortoise carried the hare while crossing the stream.

When core competencies of different individuals are harnessed it becomes an effective team work. Kiri added that under a testing situation, one should remain patient and persevering. Clear and prompt decision making ability is the key to successful entrepreneur. Acting Principal, HS Suthar, was present during the event.
