In order to promote food production to meet the growing population demand, the HRD Ministry and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here have entered into MoU for setting up a Centre of Excellence, under Frontier Area Science and Technology.

The primary aim of the Centre will be optimising the microbe that live in, on and around plants, plant microbe interaction, plant activity, protein and other related issues, which could boost agriculture production in an environmentally and economically responsible way, a University release said.

The ₹4 crore centre will also train the students, research scholars and post doctoral fellows in the specialised fields, it said.
