The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) will hold its 14th National Conference here on Friday and Saturday. The once-in-four-year affair will see deliberations on the theme: Integrating Growth, Governance and Challenges Beyond.

Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee will address the 300 delegates. Former SEBI Chairman M. Damodaran will be the keynote speaker. G Srinivasan, CMD of New India Assurance, will speak on corporate governance issues in state-owned companies.

The three technical sessions will deal with sub-themes such as emerging areas of practice in governance, professional accountability responsibility and regulation.

S.N. Ananthasubramanian, President of ICSI, told mediapersons on Thursday that the professional body would sign an MoU with public sector insurer New India Assurance for cooperation on domestic insurance sector’s governance practices and research.

ICSI has already taken signed such MoUs for collaboration with Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) and National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM).

The institute President said the ICSI Governance Research and Knowledge Foundation, a proposed corporate governance think-tank, has obtained licence for incorporation as a non-profit company.
