St George International, a central London English language school, has won two college and university contracts to teach English in India.

At the Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar, Punjab, St George International (SGI) has been contracted to teach English to 200 international students currently enrolled for undergraduate courses. It would be an academic-year-long course ending next June.

At the Mahatma Gandhi Inter College at Gorakhpur in Eastern Utter Pradesh, SGI has bagged a contract to teach English to 1,500 students. SGI India ran a successful pilot programme for 60 students of the college earlier in the year.

The three-month training programme, focusing on English Communication, is due to start later this month and is a special course designed to meet the needs of students who are 16-18 years old with very little exposure to English.

Max Loach, the School Principal of SGI London noted, “The demand for quality English tuition in India is extremely high. It is the route to better jobs and a higher standard of living.”
