Microsoft Research India launched a community research portal – www.researchconnector.net on Thursday.

Announcing the launch at the ninth edition of its flagship research symposium TechVista, Rick Rashid, Chief Research Officer at Microsoft Research, said that this connector would provide a platform for students to connect with leading computer science faculty and researchers across India.

ACM India, the India arm of ACM, a global educational and scientific computing society is the key partner in research connector.

“Our goal ultimately, is to make this a hub, driven by the research community where students from diverse academic backgrounds can learn about computer science research and work on real life problems to hone their skills. Research Connector would help students bridge the gap between aspiring to make a career in research and gaining the experience to actually doing it.”

A key component of the connector would be live projects that students can work on. These projects would be provided by the faculty of participating institutions.

More than 3,500 students from various engineering institutions in and around Coimbatore attended the symposium today.
