The office of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Panaji region, comprising Commissionerates at Panaji, Mangalore and Belgaum have far exceeded the national average of increase in tax collections for the financial year 2010-11.

As against the target Rs 3,845.60 crore, the actual net collection of the region is about Rs 4,988 crore, up by 29.70 per cent. In 54 surveys conducted during financial year 2010-11, the detection of additional income to the tune of Rs 41.29 crore with a tax effect of about Rs 12.41 crore was made.

During the corresponding period of last year, a total number of 55 surveys were conducted with an additional income of Rs 27.64 crore and tax effect is Rs 8.29 crore, said an official release of the Department here on Thursday.
