Huzefa and Surya Narayanan P of PSG College of Arts and Science emerged winners at the Coimbatore round of the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2014.
The duo will have to compete with winners from eight other cities in the South Zone finals.
The runners-up were Busaina AS and Venkatesh P of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India
The Executive Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Voltas Ltd Emmanuel David was the Chief Guest at the 10{+t}{+h} edition of the quiz held here on April 2. The winning team was given a cash prize of ₹1 lakh and the runners-up received ₹50,000.
Tata Sons, the organisers, said that there was an overwhelming response to the quiz and 84 teams from colleges across Coimbatore participated.
Other teams in the top six category selected after a preliminary written test and subsequent wild card round included a team each from Government College of Technology, SKCET, PSG Institute of Management and ICAI.
The city regional round would be followed by zonal finals, which will be organised in Mumbai (West zone), New Delhi (North zone), Kolkata (East zone) and Bangalore (South zone).
The top two teams from each of the zones would battle for the Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2014 title at the National Finals to be held in April in Mumbai.
The winners and runners-up teams from the Indian edition of the quiz will compete with the teams from Singapore and the UK editions for the International championship title.
