The Bengaluru-based Ace Creative Learning Pvt Ltd has launched ‘Deeksha PAL’, a free android app, to help students prepare for second year pre-university board examinations in Karnataka.

Launching the app in Mangaluru on Thursday, Lalit Sridhar, co-founder and Executive Director of Ace Creative Learning and Deeksha, said that the preparation for board examinations is often limited to content that is delivered through classes or tuition and coaching centres. Learning and practice happens from books and reference materials.

e-tuition

Stating that many students today own mobile devices, she said smartphones serve as effective platforms for delivery of content and test preparation material.

At present, ‘Deeksha PAL’ includes lessons and question banks for science subjects and languages (Kannada, Hindi, Sanskrit and English) prescribed in the Karnataka pre-university syllabus.

She said that this app has been created by teachers who have a vast experience in setting question papers for board examinations.

Question banks in the app are organised by difficulty level, and there are video commentaries for each chapter in the syllabus.

Sriram Sabhapathy, head of business development of Ace Creative Learning Pvt Ltd, said that the company is hopeful of around 50,000 downloads of this app before the start of II PU examinations. The app will be updated with subjects from Commerce stream in the next few weeks.

The company will come out with such an app for CBSE syllabus from the next academic year, he said.

Monetisation plan

Asked how the company is planning to monetise the app, Lalit Sridhar said that the company is planning to add several additional features to the app from the next academic year. Some of the additional features will be charged.

She said the company was planning to introduce teacher-on-call facility in the app from the next academic year. The student can get his/her doubts cleared by contacting the teacher on a particular doubt. Such facilities will be charged, she said.
