The Vice-Chancellor of Amrita University, Coimbatore, P Venkat Rangan, has welcomed the reforms for higher education.
"It is very important for higher educational institutions in India to have autonomy, flexibility and freedom from statutory bodies and their regulatory mechanisms. This autonomy will permit us to innovate in curriculum and research so that we can compete with fast-moving world-class universities globally. Indian higher educational institutions need to develop into hubs of innovation and excellence in research and find their rightful place in the international rankings of the top institutions of the world. This Budget has made some welcome moves in that direction.”
