For the first time ever, the chartered accountants’ institute plans to frame a model roadmap for Indian economy. The roadmap will be submitted to the new Central Government on its first day in office, said Anuj Goyal, Central Council Member, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), here on Friday.
Towards this end, the institute will host a national summit on ‘Indian economy: Way forward’ in the Capital on Saturday to discuss economic issues facing the country, including taxation, and suggest the way forward.
Yoga guru Ramdev will be the key speaker at the summit, which will also see several high-profile chartered accountants, including Piyush Goyal, Member of Parliament, BJP, address the gathering.
The roadmap is likely to emphasise the need for simpler tax laws, introduction of goods and services tax and other tax reforms.
