The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will announce detailed plans for holding retests for the Class X Mathematics and Class XII Economics papers, probably on Monday or Tuesday, Human Resource & Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has said. Stating that it was unfortunate that students were being made to go through the strain of sitting for examinations again, the Minister said the guilty will not be spared. “When the system is breached by wrongdoers, it is unfortunate that good people also have to suffer,” Javadekar said at a press conference on Thursday.
While the police has set up a team to crack the case, the Centre, too, has formed a special investigation team. “We have set up an internal team to get to the bottom of the matter,” the Minister said. Javadekar said his Ministry will also work on improving the system so that such breaches do not happen in the future.
A CBSE statement said the board had decided to re-conduct the Class X Maths and Class XII Economics papers to “uphold the sanctity of the board and in the interest of fairness to the students.”
