As the need for energy efficient building construction has assumed greater importance in urban set-up, city-based premiere architecture and planning institute, CEPT University announced introduction of the latest two-year full-time Masters' programme in Building Energy Performance at the campus.

The postgraduate programme will lead to a Masters of Technology Degree. "The program will be housed at Faculty of Technology. Admission process would commence from March 25 and classes would begin in July," an official statement said.

The latest regulations, green building rating systems, and owners’ preferences have created a market for building energy professionals.

The one-of-its-kind program will be open to engineers and architects and aspirants with a post graduate degree in Physics.

The graduates trained with this programmed will fit in the warm climate regions of India, South-East Asia and Middle East.

The programme will open doors for the graduates in the energy consulting firms, building design teams, and government agencies.

It will train professionals who will support the design and operations team to build structures that save energy. The course will train the graduates to tackle complex technical problems in building energy use.

"Professionals graduating from this programme will be able to use state of the art tools to conduct modelling and evaluation to assess building energy performance, effectively communicate quantitative information for saving energy, propose innovative solutions to reduce building energy consumption, and provide technical support for energy policy," the statement said.
