The IIMA Society has appointed Prof Errol D'Souza, the dean of faculty at the Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A), as Director-in-charge of the institute, replacing Prof Ashish Nanda, who had announced his resignation in April this year.
Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Board - IIMA Society, announced the appointment of Prof D'Souza as Director-in-charge, IIM-Ahmedabad effective September 2, 2017.
Prof. D’Souza studied Economics and Statistics at the University of Mumbai where he was awarded the Kashinath Trimbak Telang gold medal for obtaining the first rank in in his M.A. (Economics) degree. He obtained his Ph.D. as a University Grants Commission National Research Fellow from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Appointment of D'Souza comes on the back of resignation by Nanda, who cited personal reasons for his early exit from the institute. Nanda had stepped aside from the post well ahead of his five-year term ended in September 2018.
