The Government is aiming to prepare the first draft of the new education policy by December this year, Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani said on Wednesday.
In November this year, the Centre will discuss the suggestions for the first draft with state representatives.
"Many states have given their suggestions. The Centre has directed States to give written suggestions in the meeting in November," she said.
Irani was speaking to the media here on Wednesday.
She also added that in the 63rd meeting of Central Advisory Board of Education, States have unanimously requested Centre to revoke the 'no detention policy' in one go and bring Class 10 board exams back.
"However, we have requested States to write to us within one month on the no detention policy issue. We will then take a call," Irani said.
