“This will be a unique move as the channel will help the students and all our branches spread across the country, "says Subodh Agrawal.

In an unique move, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), a professional body which conducts the chartered accountancy course in the country, is planning to launch its own 24X7 TV channel to expand reach.

“This will be a unique move as the channel will help the students and all our branches spread across the country. Talks are being made and would not require any heavy investment,” Subodh Kumar Agrawal, President of ICAI said here.

Agrawal said that it would be 24X7 channel and would cater to a captive audience across the country.

The proposal has been submitted to the authorities concerned and a final nod was expected in the next three months, he said.

“The channel would expand our base to quite a huge extent,” he said.

ICAI has also signed MoUs with leading global accounting regulatory bodies in countries like UK, Australia and New Zealand.

It has also approached African countries to offer technical support in accounting principles and standards, he said.

ICAI’s new branch at Kasba in the city was expected to be operational in three months.

The body has bought two acres of land at Rajarhat near the metropolis.
