The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) will be issuing guidelines for institute governance soon.
“While we are focussing on corporate governance at a larger level, we also want to strengthen governance of the institute from within,” S.N. Ananthasubramanian, President, ICSI, told newspersons here on Friday.
Efforts were on to reinforce the brand image of the Institute and Company Secretaries with a host of measures, including corporate governance ratings for companies and training of directors.
“We are developing a database for independent directors,” he said.
Referring to the new Companies’ Bill, he said once enacted, the Bill would make Company Secretaries into corporate governance professionals.
On the education front ICSI was making suitable changes to the curriculum and changes in its syllabus for its executive programme. The new syllabus for the CS Professional Programme would be implemented from September 1, 2013, he said.
