International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bangalore will hold the 17th convocation ceremony on July 2.
Around 250 students from disciplines such as Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science by Research, M.Tech. in Information Technology, M.Tech. in Electronics System Design, Sponsored M.Tech., Integrated M.Tech. and M.Sc. (Digital Society) are expected to graduate.
This is also the first batch completing M.Sc. in Digital Society, a course intended to train non-engineering students from any background on digital technologies. As a part of the curricular requirements, students have undergone short-term/long-term internships in companies such as Deloitte (Social Sector Consulting), Microsoft Research (Technology for Emerging Markets), NIMHANS and World Resources Institute. They have been offered full-time employment in organisations such as Coviam Technologies, Daimler Financial Services, Everwell Health Solutions, e-Government Foundation for roles ranging from user experience researcher, product management associate, business analyst, and digital marketing executive. The average package offered to these students is Rs 7.5 lakh annually.
In the current year, Microsoft India and HP have provided scholarships for students enrolled in this programme.
The students have also presented their research work at technical conferences such as CRYPTO 2017, AAMAS 2017, ACM Compute 2016 and INDICON 2016. Some of the students have successfully completed research internships at universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge), RMIT in Melbourne), Hasso Plattner Institute (Berlin), University of British Columbia (Vancouver), University of Alabama (Alabama).
The students will be joining some of the leading tech companies such as Amazon, Morgan Stanley, Walmart Labs, Samsung Research, Hilti, IBM R&D, Cisco. The average package offered to these students is Rs 17.5 lakh per annum and the offers include three international placements.
