Final placements process for the batch of 2011-13 at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) has begun on a cheerful note.
The institute witnessed an increase in the number of offers received during the first two days of placements (called Slot Zero in management parlance) this year.
IIM-C bagged as many as 135 offers during slot zero this year, compared with 108 offers last year.
There are 448 students in the 2011-13 batch but not all of them apply for the final placement process as some venture out on their own or join their family business.
The total number of placed candidates post the slot zero process, including pre-placement offers (which a candidate bags by virtue of his performance during summer internship and project) and lateral offers (for students with prior work experience) is over 280, said an IIM-C press statement.

“Other big names participating in the laterals process included Alshaya, Shell, Amazon, Aditya Birla Group, Google, General Electric and Hinduja Group among others,” the release said.
