The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow has decided to slash its fees for the first time since it was established in 1984.
Devi Singh, Director, announced on Friday that the institute’s Board had decided to reduce the fees for the post-graduate programme in management (PGP & PGP in agri-business management) by 10 per cent from the current Rs 12 lakh to Rs 10.8 lakh.
IIM Lucknow has not raised fee since 2011. Being autonomous institutes, IIMs have the right to decide their own fee structures.
In 2004, the Government had decided to slash the fees at the premier management institutes. However, at that time, the move was not welcomed by the IIMs.
Singh said, “In the last nine years, the institute’s impetus has been on efficient financial management and broad-basing its revenue sources. We have been successful in achieving this. We have no reliance on Government grants now. This decision does not mean reduction in either the quality of education, infrastructure or any other services in the institute.”
