IIMB to host ‘Unmaad’ cultural fest

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) will host Unmaad, its annual cultural festival.

The three-day festival will begin on February 1 and has drawn participation from 150-plus colleges across the country in over 50 events spanning genres such as music, dance, art, literary and quizzing events, fashion and drama.

The theme for Unmaad’19 is ‘The Hues of Hysteria’, which seeks to celebrate colours.

This year, Unmaad has two Pronite events – with Benny Dayal and Funktuation on February 2, and Salim Sulaiman and Bhoomi Trivedi on February 3. Abish Mathew will perform at the Comedy Night on February 3.

The World Cultural Fiesta (WCF) has a line-up of seven international performances by six artistes from Sweden, Ukraine, and several other countries. WCF will also witness an illusion act by Suhani Shah, India’s first female illusionist. Also included are a lot of cultural events, from poetry to freestyle dancing and acapella competitions, with prizes worth ₹13 lakh.

Some of the flagship events this year include Mr and Ms Unmaad, a personality contest for youngsters, Haute Couture, a fashion show, Chef’s Hat, an opportunity for budding chefs to display their culinary skills, B-School of Rock (BSOR), a band competition, Footloose, a freestyle dancing competition, and Curtain Call, stage play competition for drama enthusiasts. A food village is also being set up.

The fest, which was introduced in 1996, has grown over the years. As part of the World Cultural Fiesta (WCF) organised within the ambit of the main fest, several international artistes have given spectacular performances, ranging from illusion acts, mimes to fireworks.
