An exhibition of the 20-year journey of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, towards academic excellence will be inaugurated here tomorrow.

This would be part of the anniversary celebrations of IIM-K.

Professor Pankaj Chandra, Chairman, Board of Management, Ahmedabad University, and Former Director, IIM Bangalore, would deliver the 21st Foundation Day Lecture and also inaugurate the exhibition, an IIM-K said in a statement.

Founded in 1996, IIM-K was the fifth IIM set up by the Union Government and has made rapid strides to become one of the premier management schools in India, it said.

The institute was ranked sixth among all management schools in the first NIRF rankings for higher education launched by the Human Resources Development Ministry in 2016, it added.

The institute further said that its post graduate programme (PGP), started in 1997 with a batch of 42 students, is on a high growth trajectory today.

PGP student’s intake for 2016 was 384, a nine-fold increase in 20 years, thus making it the fastest growing management school in the country, the statement said.

Also, it highlighted IIM-K’s achievements in the last two decades like incubation of a centre of excellence jointly with the Kerala Government to help SC/ST students overcome deficiencies in communication and personality, raising women enrolment to more than 30 per cent and opening of the first Indian Business Museum in 2013, it said.

With 20 years of experience, IIM-K is successfully mentoring IIM Amritsar, the 15th IIM in the country, since October 2014, the statement added.
