The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) has announced the appointment of Prof Hitesh Bhatt to the post of Director with effect from December 1, 2017.
Bhatt has been associated with IRMA since 1995 and brings with him 18 years of experience in the industrial field.
After the controversial exit of the former director of the institute R C Natrajan, Prof. Rakesh Saxena was made Acting Director. He will hand over charge to Bhatt on December 1.
Bhatt has a specialisation in the field of general management, he holds a B.Tech degree from IIT Delhi and an MS in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech, Atlanta, USA, a statement from IRMA said.
Having started his career with Reliance Textile Industries in 1979, Bhatt has also held senior positions with companies such as the Mafatlal group of mills, Sunflag group of textile and garment factories in Tanzania, and a joint venture company (Indo-Bhutanese- South Korean) in Sanand, Gujarat.
As a dedicated academician, he has been involved in teaching, training, and consulting. He has trained diverse cadres of people in various organisations - including government and non-government, cooperatives, and corporations. He has also worked as Professor and Head of the Centre for Management Studies at Dharmsinh Desai University in Nadiad, Gujarat.
IRMA was founded by the late Dr Verghese Kurien, father of India’s White Revolution, in 1979, and is internationally-known for its achievements.
