Manipal Global Education Services will take its corporate programmes to the IT and manufacturing companies at their respective campuses.
The company currently conducts it for the banking sector and has tied up with Bank of Baroda, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank to conduct year-long residential programs to train working professionals and prospective employees of the banks.
The company will also introduce sector-agnostic short-term programs on issues like women leadership for corporates, said Mr S. Vaitheeswaran, MD and CEO of Manipal Education.
Manipal’s corporate education programs are those where it ties up with a corporate entity to provide specialised degree-level training for the particular industry.
It currently provides only year-long residential programs at its university campus but is also now planning short-term, three month programmes that can be held at the client’s location to suit client requirements, Mr Vaitheeswaran said.
“This is one of the fastest growing businesses for the Manipal Group and we are looking at revenues of Rs 150 crore, 15 per cent of overall revenues from this segment this year,” he added.
Manipal Global is growing at about 25 per cent every year, and expects to reach revenues of Rs 1,500 crore next year.
Online education
Corporate education apart, the company is giving its online education division a big push.
After success in its online distance education programs, Manipal Global is set to launch its ‘e-university’ this year.
The company is launching the online university to target working professionals who want flexible timings to pursue post graduate courses. Unlike regular distance education programs, all courses through the e-university will be administered completely through the Internet and classes can be fixed as per student requirements, Mr Vaitheeswaran said.
The Malaysia-headquartered university will begin operations in October and will offer courses on IT and management, Mr Vaitheeswaran said. He added that the company has tied up with Australian and UK universities to jointly brand the e-university. Manipal expects this to contribute about seven per cent of overall revenues in two years.
