Chennai-based management education portal, myBskool.com has partnered with the Madras Management Association to offer a free mini MBA programme.

The content for the 100-day, 100-hour online programme has been co-created in partnership with IIM-Ranchi. The course is already being tested and used by students of IIM-Ranchi, IMT-Ghaziabad and a few other B schools.

Said K. Swaminathan, CEO,

>myBskool.com , often people do not have the patience and time to spend time on campus; they want immediate results. “This is why we came up with a condensed version of a full fledged MBA programme covering vital topics.”

The mini MBA is aimed at providing a “solid foundation” in current business theory and practices, across subjects such as marketing, human resources, accounting, business communication and strategy. The programme, hosted on mybskool.com, incorporates video modules, live lectures, chats, discussion forums and self assessment.

The programme is targeted at working professionals, executives, small business owners and students.

Being free does not mean it is a frivolous exercise, said Swaminathan. The programme is rigorous and monitors frequency of logging in, participation in group discussions and virtual classroom sessions, he said. Though certification is not provided, the course comes with a “badge of honour” on completion.

Professor M.J. Xavier, Director, IIM-Ranchi, said formal class rooms are no longer necessary these days to learn, with the education system getting reinvented thanks to technology. MyBskool is a two-year old venture which offers 1-2 years MBA programmes in partnership with B-schools.

The global online higher education space has been growing at 13 to 15 per cent since 2009. The big players in the space are MIT, Harvard, University of Phoenix and Stanford.
