There is good demand for chartered accountants (CAs) in the country and more students should be attracted to this profession, according to P.R. Aruloli, Chairman of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
Speaking at ‘Jnana Deevige’, a national conference of ICAI, in Mangaluru on Friday, he said the country has around 2.4 lakh CAs now. But that number is not enough, as there is a need for another 6 lakh CAs, he said.
The demand provides an opportunity to more students to look at CA as a profession, he said.
To create awareness about the profession, SIRC members and students are planning to carry a 66-km-long banner to the regional conference of SIRC later this year, he said.
