The National School of Drama (NSD) here has introduced a course in “Theatre-in-Education”, the first of its kind in Asia.
Altogether 20 students are admitted to the one-year course initially, of which eight students are from Tripura and the rest from outside.
Inaugurating the course on Thursday night, Tripura Chief Minister, Manik Sarkar, said, “A few years ago, when the NSD proposed to us the introduction of this course, we had no clear idea about it. But, today I understand that it is a historic day for the theatre lovers of the State and all credit goes to NSD.”
The NSD would form a group with the successful pass-outs which would stage dramas in different parts of the country after one year.
