There are over 5,500 posts of teachers lying vacant in schools run by the Delhi Municipal Corporation, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.
Of the total, the highest number of vacancies was in North Delhi at 1,971, followed by 1,958 in East Delhi and 1,639 in South Delhi Municipal Corporation, the Minister of State in the Home Minister, Mullapally Ramachandran, said in a written reply.
The Minister said before the trifurcation of the civic body, 1,308 vacancies were filled in 2011-12 and 1,821 in 2010-11.
