The first batch of students with B Com and BBA degrees with specialisation in business process services (BPS) designed by TCS in collaboration with academia in 2015-16 will graduate soon.
One hundred and fifty-five students enrolled in the first batch of this industry-academia collaboration effort in 2013.
The three-year full-time commerce degree with specialisation in BPS was deployed through B Com and BBA programmes in four institutions affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
In 2015, the BPS specialisation programme will be offered at Manipal University, Manipal; CMR Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore; and St Joseph’s College of Commerce (Autonomous), Bangalore.
According to Ranjan Bandhopadhya, vice-president and head, human resources, TCS BPS, the goal is to collaborate with leading universities across the country.
The idea is to scale up the supply of graduates with BPS specialisation to about 10,000 students annually to create a sustainable talent pool for the BPS industry and increase the employability quotient of students.
The BPS specialisation programme uses a blended approach with exposure to core subjects, industry practices and domain knowledge.
It incorporates 600 hours of learning in areas such as finance and accounting, banking, capital markets, retail, and insurance along with modules on managing BPS.
