The Manipal-based T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) has inducted 409 students for the new batch of its postgraduate programmes for 2013-15.

These students form part of the 31st batch of PGDM (postgraduate diploma in management) and fourth batch of PGDM (Healthcare) courses.

This batch has a good mix of students with various backgrounds and different cultures, says a press release by Chowdari Prasad, Dean (Public Relations) of the institute.

Over 92 per cent of the students have completed their technical education and have either BE or B.Tech qualification. The batch members have an average of two years of working experience in leading companies in the country. Female members constituted 31 per cent of the total strength in the new batch, the release said.

P. Tamilvanan, Chairman of New Mangalore Port Trust, who was the chief guest on the occasion, highlighted the essential qualities a manager quoting his experiences at ports such as Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Kochi and Mangalore.

H. Shantaram Administrative Officer of the Academy of General Education, Manipal, spoke on the evolution of Manipal as a global hub for higher education as envisioned by its founder Dr TMA Pai.

R.C. Natarajan, Director of TAPMI, welcomed the members of the new batch on the occasion.
