Modem technology such as data science helps people to understand each other in various levels of interaction, according to Erkki Sutenin, a professor in the Department of Information Technology, University of Turku, Finland.

In his keynote address at an international conference at VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering Technology (VNR VJIET) here, he asked universities to be bold. “It’s imperative for universities to be brave and not seek to make money by doing pleasant things,’’ he added.

S Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, lamented that only 18.1 per cent of engineering graduates are employable and 80 per cent of the engineering graduates in India work in only IT/ITES domains.

D.N. Rao, President, Vignana Jyothi said rapidly advancing technology will also lead to many challenges particularly in the arenas of artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics.

During the conference, over 180 research papers were presented in the domains of high performance computing, advances in communication and networking, circuits and systems in computing, among others.
