The biggest ever scholarship programme worth one million pounds has been launched to invite the brightest talent from India to study in the UK, British Deputy High Commissioner David Lelliott said today.
Under the programme, around 370 scholarships will be offered for 260 undergraduate and postgraduate courses including engineering, law, biosciences and IT, he told presspersons here.
Thirty-six institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will participate in the programme which will start from September, he said.
“Four of the world’s top six universities are in the UK and these are known not only for the excellent education they offer but also for their vibrant environment. We welcome India’s brightest students in our universities and for that there is no limit on the number of students who come and stay on to work on a graduate level job after their studies,” Lelliott said.
“We are looking to increase the number of world-class individuals who can come here and study in the UK,” he said, adding there were 4.30 lakh non-EU students studying in the UK, 30,000 of whom are from India.
