The University of Hyderabad (UoH), which was rocked by an unprecedented agitation over the alleged discrimination against Dalit students a few months ago, has fared well in campus placements this year.
The number of offers/ placements received by students from the top central university in the country has gone up by 30 per cent.
“Of late, we have introduced some professional industry-oriented programmes, which have resulted in increased placements. We will continue to find ways to further improve our placement record by all possible means,’’ P. Appa Rao, Vice-Chancellor, UoH, told BusinessLine here.
As of Thursday (May 12), 248 students had secured jobs across various streams in the campus hiring process compared to 190 in the same period last year. M. Tech students received the highest number of 60 offers, followed by students from the MBA and MCA streams.
The pay packages ranged from Rs 3.50 lakh per annum to Rs 36 lakh per annum. Works Application Ltd, a Japan-based company, selected two MTech students at a pay package of Rs 36 lakh per annum.
During the administrative shutdown during January 18-30, students were sent directly to the companies’ (Deloitte, Oracle and Aditya Birla and others) premises for placements.
