Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu today inaugurated the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad set up to take up research and accelerate the drive for Corporate Governance.

The ICSI Centre of Excellence has been established to provide learning, research and consultancy to the corporate sector. This will also help Indian corporate sector to capture the best global practices in the corporate management, corporate disclosures and setting the benchmarks for high quality corporate governance.

In a his address, M. Venkaiah Naidu urged ICSI to make the Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad a hub of research, support, guidance and training that can contribute towards efforts of nation building of the Government of India.

“As the nation progresses towards ‘New India’, professional Institutes like ICSI need to take on a new role in the development of skills, technology and manage its adoption to deal effectively with a rapidly evolving business environment,” he said.

Shyam Agrawal, President, ICSI, informed that the Centre of Excellence, Hyderabad shall undertake innovative and potentially transformational research in corporate governance.

The Centre of Excellence would collaborate with the country’s top graded professional management institutes and Law universities and enlist the support of the Central and concerned State Governments, World Bank, ADB and premier management universities, informed President, ICSI

The centre will also provide high-quality postgraduate and post-doctoral training environments for the next generation of researchers;

Ahalada V. Rao, Council Member, the ICSI and Chairman Infrastructure Committee, Centre of Excellence, Hyderabad, said, “The Centre will help the Indian corporate sector to capture the best global practices in the corporate management, corporate disclosures and setting the benchmarks for high quality corporate governance.”

The Institute has 52,000 members and over 4 lakh students on its roll.
