Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan academic block and Saroini Naidu hostel block of Vellore Institute of Technology at Amaravati on Tuesday. The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for it a year ago and the VIT completed both the buildings in a record time of one year.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said Amaravati should be developed as a knowledge hub. He said several universities are coming up in Amaravati capital region.
Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu said the speedy completion of VIT campus is part of the great vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
The Vice-President said that the second foreign immigration centre would be set up in Amaravati after the first one in Mumbai, as the Chief Minister came forward to allot land.
VIT chancellor G Viswanatham welcomed the gathering.
