Wipro has announced the winners of the fourth edition of its Earthian programme.
The winning schools include: Anand Niketan, Sewagram, Maharashtra; BenHur Public School, Pilibhit, UP; City Montessori School, Kanpur; Gyan Mandir Public School, Delhi; M.L Convent School, Orai Road, Bhitara, Jalaun, UP; Prakriya Green Wisdom School, Bangalore; Purv Madhyamik Vidyalay, Bibipur, Lucknow, UP; Purva Madyamik Vidyalaya Itonja Lucknow; Rachana School, Ahmedabad; Rajakiya Balika Madhyamik Vidyalaya, Dausa, Rajasthan; Rajakiya Kanya Madhya Vidyalaya, Sasaram; Bihar, and Sardar Patel Vidyalay, officials said.
The winning colleges include BMS Institute of Technology and Management; BNM Institute of Technology; Indian Institute of Management Indore; Indian Institute of Science Bangalore; Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology; Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology; National Institute of Technology, Trichy; SASTRA University; Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, Nagpur; XLRI Jamshedpur.
The programme intends to create spaces for sustainability learning and action within the education process in schools and colleges. The programme was divided into three segments of activities aimed at building skills, attitudes and values to shape a sustainable future, according to a company statement.
The winning institutions were awarded a trophy and cash prizes and the awards were given by Azim Premji, Chairman, Wipro. Anurag Behar, Chief Sustainability Officer, Wipro said: “Each year, Earthian encourages more institutions, teachers and students to join in and participate and help build a platform that aims to embed sustainability as a core part of learning in schools and colleges."
In the 2014 edition of the annual Earthian program, Wipro received over 500 submissions from across India, from which 23 institutes have been selected as winners by an independent jury.
