The Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued a show-cause notice to Jet Airways seeking an explanation as to why the company failed to deposit PF contribution for March.
This comes even as the Regional Labour Commissioner (RLC) summoned airline CEO Vinay Dube to discuss issues arising out of non-payment of salaries, following a complaint by the National Aviator’s Guild (NAG), the pilots’ body of Jet Airways.
Dube has been asked to be present in person on May 13.
The EPFO has issued a directive asking the airline to “pay all outstanding dues at once and report with proof of remittance.” The letter said that if the dues are not paid, there could be an enquiry, an FIR and a fine along with interest.
Last week, BusinessLine had reported that on the basis of a complaint received by the All India Jet Airways Staff and Officers Association, the RLC had asked the airline to produce documents on pending gratuity and PF. The airline was given time till May 1. As the airline did not submit the documents, the RLC has now sent a formal notice.
