With floods ravaging Chennai, the Finance Ministry on Saturday announced extension of deadline for filing of tax returns for the state of Tamil Nadu.
“Because of calamity, we are extending the last date of payment of central excise and service tax to 20 December 2015 in the state of Tamil Nadu,” said Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia in a series of tweets on Saturday.
A similar extension has also been provided for filing monthly returns of central excise to residents of the state. The deadline has now been extended to December 31, 2015.
The Finance Ministry has also extended the date for payment of income-tax deducted at source (TDS) to December 20, 2015 for the state, Adhia tweeted.
