The master plan for the proposed capital city of Amaravati, while providing a long-term direction factoring the projected growth in population, seeks to provide robust linkages to ports and two industrial corridors to Chennai and Vizag respectively.
According to government sources, it has been indicated that the master plan and the Capital Region Plan, the latter submitted in March 2015, are proposed to be implemented over four phases, with the first phase likely to be completed by 2019.
The capital city, coming up on the river front, envisages development of growth corridors which would serve as hubs in attracting new investments.
In order to cater to the growing requirement, the plan seeks to have expressways and semi-expressways of 127 km, arterial links of 155 km, sub-arterial roads of 332 km.
Transportation It is proposed to have metro rail network of 135 km spread over four corridors along with bus-rapid transport system.
It provides for non-motorised transport of 150 km and waterfront trail 35 km. With the capital city coming up on the river front, water taxi facility has also been envisaged.
While building a strong religious circuit linking up Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada to the ancient Buddhist site of Amaravati, linking up Ananthavaram, Neerokonda, Mangalagiri temple, Undvalli caves, Bhavani Islands, it is backed by a water circuit of 61 km.
Pang Yee Ean, Chief Executive Officer of Surbana International, said the focus of the master plan is to make it a liveable and serve as a hub for economic activity providing jobs.
Jobs provision, vaastu Factoring Vaastu, the planners have taken care to ensure that the master plan conforms to various norms. It would have a network of reservoirs and the waterfront would be utilised for developing the greenery.
The government plans to link up the capital city to the ports in Kakinada and Machilipatnam while making it an industrial corridor and a hub ideal for investments.
