Five events to watch out for today

A special 2G court is to pronounce its order on framing charges in the 2002 additional spectrum allocation case in which former telecom secretary Shyamal Ghosh and three telecom firms —  Hutchison Max, Sterling Cellular and Bharti Cellular — are accused. The court will also pass its order on Ghosh’s bail plea.

The CBI’s application seeking issuance of a letter rogatory (a formal request) to the authorities in Mauritius for assistance in probing and collecting documents relating to the ₹3,600-crore VVIP chopper deal case will come up for consideration before a Delhi court today.

Finance ministers of Commonwealth countries will participate in a meeting in Lima, Peru, today to discuss the need for developing countries to be more active in global negotiations to prevent international tax avoidance and evasion. The meeting will take place ahead of the IMF and World Bank annual meetings.

The third round of talks to break the deadlock between agitating FTII students and I&B ministry officials will be held in Mumbai today. The last meeting in the city was “inconclusive” with both parties failing to resolve the row.

Farmers’ organisations in Punjab have decided to block rail traffic today and tomorrow to protest the anti-farmer policies of the State government. Eight organisations, including BKU Ekta (Dakunda), BKU Ekta (Ugrahan), BKU (Krantikari), Kirti Kisan Union will take part in the agitations.
