Five ministers of state resign from Cabinet

Five Ministers of State in the Narendra Modi Cabinet resigned here on Tuesday soon after the expanison of the Ministry.

Sanwar Lal Jat, Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, a former professor of Commerce, is the MP from Ajmer.

Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Mansukhbhai Dhanjibhai Vasava — both from Gujarat — have also resigned from their posts.

Modi had recently evaluated the proformance of his Cabinet ministers.

Nihal Chand, Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, against whom a complaint of rape is pending, and Ram Shankar Katheria, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, against whom there is an allegation of forging mark sheets, have also put in their papers.

A communiqué from the President’s office said President Pranab Mukerjee has accepted the resignations with immediate effect as advised by the Prime Minister.
