Five things to watch out for on Oct 12

The National Stock Exchange will launch its commodity derivatives segment today. The exchange has obtained SEBI's approval for introducing futures contracts on Gold 1 kg, Gold Mini 100 gram and Silver 30 kg. On October 1, the BSE became the first stock exchange in the country to launch commodity derivatives contract in gold and silver. 

Amrapali directors -- Anil Kumar Sharma, Shiv Priya and Ajay Kumar have to present themselves before the SHO of Noida today. The Supreme Court on Thursday issued contempt notice against the three directors for defying various court orders and sought their reply in four weeks. The court is seized of a batch of petitions filed by home buyers who are seeking possession of around 42,000 flats booked in projects of the Amrapali group. 

President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the annual convention of transparency watchdog Central Information Commission in New Delhi. The annual convention on ‘Data privacy and Right to Information, Amendment in the RTI Act and Implementation of the RTI Act’ is aimed at recommending measures for improving the transparency and accountability with a view to improving governance. 

BJP chief Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to poll-bound Chhattisgarh from Friday, during which he will address the booth-level workers of the party at four places. This will be Shah’s third visit to the state within a month. The Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh are scheduled to be held in two phases next month. The ruling party has set a target of “Mission 65 plus” in the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly.

India will take on West Indies in the second Test in Hyderabad. The hosts won the first Test by a record innings and 272 runs. For West Indies, the aim will be to at least put up some fight unlike the Rajkot game where they didn’t last 100 overs across both innings.
