T he Indian squad for the tour of Australia is to be picked in Delhi on Saturday. The tour comprises five ODIs and three T20 Internationals to be played between January 12 and 31.

C ongress president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi, and five others are to appear before a Delhi trial court dealing with the National Herald case at 3 pm on Saturday. Earlier, the case was adjourned after senior lawyers, including Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who appeared on behalf of the respondents, sought time to peruse the Delhi HC's order that dismissed the pleas of the Gandhis to quash the summons or exempt them for personal appearance.

T he decks have been cleared for the release on Sunday of the juvenile convict in the December 16, 2012, gangrape case with the Delhi High Court refusing to intervene, saying he cannot be stopped from walking free under the existing provisions of law. The convict, now a 20-year-old, is expected to walk out of the reformation home on December 20, at the end of his three-year jail term unless there is a stay from the Supreme Court.

T he government has extended the last date for payment of service tax and central excise for November for Tamil Nadu. The date of filing of return for service tax has been extended to Sunday, December 20, and excise duty to December 31, 2015.

T he foundation stone for an All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Mangalagiri will be laid on Saturday by Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Nirmala Sitharaman and BJP State President K Haribabu. The AIIMS would be constructed on 193 acres of land located between old and new national highways at Mangalagiri. It will be super speciality hospital with a 900-bed strength. It will have 100 medical seats apart from nursing and para medical courses.
